"I met Elri when we were shooting Dennis Cooper and Zac Farley’s film Like Cattle Towards Glow and one day (we were on the long drive back to Paris from wherever we were shooting) Elri was telling me about his face painting. He was obsessed with wrestling and would paint his face then photograph himself and make YouTube videos, kind of becoming a character or an elemental, higher version of himself, a super hero or something. He was super interesting and weird, but as he was talking, this idea popped in my head of him painting himself as a tornado in order to confront his fear. It was one of those really loud, immediate ideas, so I asked him on the spot if he would be interested to do it. Not long after, we were in his tiny apartment in the Paris suburbs and spent a couple of days shooting this movie. We decided that I would interview him and then he would paint himself as a tornado and I would film it. This is one of my favorite things I have ever made. He spoke so beautifully and powerfully. I still find it very moving to watch."
